Florida Youth SHINE currently has 14 chapters around the state of Florida.
Chapters are local groups and the organizing structure of FYS. This is where you can get involved as a member and where the youth voice starts. Each chapter identifies what is most needed by youth in foster care in their area and comes up with solutions. The goal for chapters is to provide a voice for the youth and address local issues and bring them to the statewide level. Chapters also work on community education activities to better educate the communities and gain public speaking experience. Chapters come together 4 times per year to work on statewide issues that affect youth in Florida. Chapters are open to members ages 13-24 who have been touched by the system of care (foster care, adopted, non-relative care, relative care, reunification). Below is a list of our chapters and some photos of a few youth from each chapter at one of our Quarterly Meetings. We hope to see you at our next chapter meeting in your area. Please reach out to FYS Coordinator, Geori Berman at for info about getting involved in your local chapter.
Don't see a chapter in your area? We are always looking for new partnerships to host chapters. Contact us about the Chapter Application process.
